Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
At Hyde Park Schools, we are committed to providing a fully inclusive education where every child is given the opportunity to reach their full potential. We believe that all pupils, regardless of their individual needs, have a right to a high-quality education. Our dedicated team works closely with pupils, families, and external professionals to identify and support a wide range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Our Approach to SEND
Our approach is built on the principle of early intervention and close collaboration. We use a graduated approach to SEND support, which involves:
- High-Quality Teaching: Our first step is to ensure that all classroom teaching is inclusive and adapted to meet the diverse needs of our pupils.
- Assess, Plan, Do, Review: If a pupil needs additional support, we follow this cyclical process to identify their needs, create a support plan, implement targeted interventions, and regularly review their progress.
- Targeted Support: We offer a range of interventions, from small group work to one-on-one support, to help pupils with specific needs in areas such as literacy, numeracy, communication, and social-emotional development.
- Collaboration with Families: We believe that you, as parents and carers, are key partners in your child's education. We hold regular meetings to discuss your child's progress and to ensure their support plan is effective.
Key Information and Support
Our school has a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCo), Mrs. Jennifer Hussey, works across both schools. The SENDCo is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day provision for pupils with SEND and is your main point of contact for any concerns or questions.
